It is official…According to a news release from the city of
Midland. The installation of warning signs began on October
19 of 2009 notifying motorists CELL PHONE USE PROHIBITED in
posted school zone areas.
The statewide
law went into effect on September 1, 2009. The first 55 signs
in Midland began to appear along major streets and around
high school areas.
UPDATE..
Of course, school is out now for the Summer. By the time classes
open for the 2011 term, all signs should be posted, and according
to the MPD, the laws will be STRICTLY
ENFORCED.
